Who Would be Interested in This Program?
Industrial Organizational (I-O) Psychology might be for you if:
- You enjoy psychology but are not interested in providing counseling or therapy.
- You are interested in using psychological principles to improve businesses (both employees and the organization).
- You want to diagnose and provide creative solutions for work problems.
I-O Psychologists can provide answers to questions such as:
- What motivates people at work?
- Who will be the best performers for a job?
- What can managers and leaders do to make an enjoyable workplace?
- What training would be appropriate for new hires?
- What assessment tools can be used to diagnose workplace problems?
What Are the Requirements to be Admitted to the Program?
- An Undergraduate Degree in Psychology is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 undergraduate psychology courses including general psychology, statistics, and experimental psychology plus two other acceptable courses (comparable courses in relevant disciplines such as Human Resources of Business will be considered)
- A minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or 2.74 for the last 60 hours.
- Students receiving clear admission to the graduate program in psychology usually have an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Minimum scores of 149 Verbal and 144 Quantitative on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
