Why Health Services Administration?
Program Accreditation
- The Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) option is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
- Students graduating from the HIIM option are eligible to sit for the national certification examination leading to a credential as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Professional Practice Experience
An important part of your education is gaining professional practice experience (PPE) prior to graduation. In HSA 411-413 (Professional Practice Experience), students are assigned to different health care facilities over three semesters to gain actual observation and work experience under the direction of a facility employee. What Are the Requirements to be Admitted to the Program?
All students who declare Health Services Administration as their major are initially placed into a pre-HSA curriculum. Required courses can be found at the HSA website and the University's Undergraduate Catalog.
Admission to the HSA program requires the following:
- Institutional GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Completion of general education requirements (at least 75%)
- Completion of each course in the Pre-HSA curriculum with a grade of C or better after a maximum of two attempts
Students who meet the minimum requirements will be accepted into the program within the enrollment limits determined by the faculty. The Program reserves the right to accept only the best qualified applicants who meet the minimum requirements.
